That depends on who you ask. I was born in 1986 and genetically destined for a life of torture and pain. Unknowingly I was given a mutated CP gene, a CACNA1A gene and a CNTNAP2 gene.

The CP gene? It's in JUST the right spot to cause Hereditary Hypoceruloplasminemia (<10 in the world) AND Hermansky Pudlak Syndrome 3/Albinism. (150 in the world / <1500 in Australia).

The CACNA1A gene? Episodic Ataxia 2 (Numbers unknown, still ultra-rare).

The CNTNAP2 gene? It's still under investigation but it causes autism like brain communication issues.

Why the zebra? The zebra is the international symbol for rare disease sufferers and it's only fitting that I learn to embrace it. Not all of us get to wear stripes!
